In-sync with Indonesia’s efforts to develop inter-dependent industries
Echoing their support to the exhibitions, ASHRAE Indonesia Chapter and the Indonesian Cold Chain Association (ARPI) both commended IISM Jakarta and Refrigeration & HVAC Indonesia as a meaningful business platform that energizes the overall industry. Mr X from ASHRAE pointed out that, “expansion of the country’s food cold chain sector has sizeable Impacts on the Refrigeration & HVAC Industry as a whole as there are  complementing needs across the inter-linked Industries. Therefore efforts to improve technological use in one sector must be mirrored by holistic transformation across the larger industry collective.” Various industry statistics suggest a confidently booming sector as Indonesia’s air conditioner market is still growing at 13% yearly until 2018 with a higher growth rate over the next years.
The escalating number of hypermarkets and supermarkets have increased the demand of energy-efficient refrigeration equipment in recent times. Rapid industrialization, rising disposable income and other demographic shifts have also led to significant changes in food and beverage consumption over the past few years. More people are dining outside, hence commercial, lifestyle and recreational buildings now have more dining spaces with air-conditioning needs. In addition, the widespread emergence of food services are causing a hike in capital investments as businesses have to incur expenditure on transportation, distribution logistics and facilities such as cold storages or warehouses.
According to Mr X from Indonesian Cold Chain Association (ARPI), “just focusing on the food sector alone, the increasing international trade of frozen food items across Indonesia and to foreign markets has led to the considerable rise in demand for refrigeration products across the commercial sectors, particularly for the hospitality, entertainment, tourism industries.” The food cold storage industry of Indonesia requires approximately IDR 12 trillion (approx. USD $902 million) of additional investment in order to raise installed capacity to a sufficient level.
Indonesia’s expansive food production market is characterized by a healthy seafood sector has outgrown overall economy in 2016. As the world’s 2nd largest market for seafood and food processing industry, there has been proactive push by the Ministry of Marine Affairs & Fishery to further develop the industry and protect Indonesia’s interest in international production and export markets. Against this backdrop, the exhibitions therefore effectively have attracted dedicated industry players that are ready to commit to Indonesia’s developments and see value in sharing their expertise. To do this, exhibiting companies and supporting associations have lined-up a series of industry-leading conferences and seminars to share insightful observations on challenging trends and market developments encountered by relevant businesses in the sector.
